It all started with my mom, Julie Gill of Big Glass Art, in Huntsville, Alabama. Picture this: I was slogging through life in the catering industry (trust me, sandwich platters are not where dreams are made), when the stained glass gods smiled upon me.
My mom offered me a paid apprenticeship at her studio. The deal? Ten days a month in Huntsville, helping with commissioned projects and teaching students, in exchange for a percentage of the money – after I covered airfare, of course.
At first, I thought, "Hey, free trip and quality mom time, why not?" Little did I know I was being lured into a sparkly, colorful rabbit hole. By 2016, it hit me – stained glass wasn’t just a hobby or a side gig. It was my passion. I was ready to make it my career, whether the world was ready or not.
With my husband (and a hefty dose of support from my mom), we opened Little Glass Art in Colorado. We started by teaching classes in Colorado Springs, and soon enough, we expanded to Denver. One minute I was teaching in one city, the next I was wondering how I ended up running two.
Then, in 2019, my mom decided to retire from stained glass after 15 incredible years of bringing color and light to the Huntsville community. She was ready to pass the torch—or rather, the soldering iron. But even in her "retirement," she’s still living in Colorado, getting hit with the occasional, "Hey, Mom, could you help with this...?"
Looking back, I realize those years in Huntsville shaped me into the artist I am today. I’ll forever treasure those memories and the fact that I found my passion in stained glass. Plus, being part of the family legacy is the icing on the cake—or maybe the lead came on the glass, if we’re being technical.
Priced by Passion, Crafted with Precision
The price of a stained glass project is determined by several factors, including the size (square feet), design complexity, materials used, and estimated labor required.
We encourage potential clients to share their budget when reaching out. This allows us to tailor our suggestions to fit within the desired price range. If it's not possible to align with the budget, we provide clear expectations or offer alternative options.
Clients are under no obligation until the final design sketch is approved. Once accepted, we request a 50% down payment to begin the project, with the remaining balance due upon delivery or installation.
