Toyo Rainbow-Comfort Grip Supercutter

Key item for glass cutting.

You won't catch us using any other glass cutter! Toyo makes several different handle styles, but we have found that the pencil style is much more natural for most.

DO NOT USE OIL! It is unnecessary in the majority of applications and only makes a mess. Don't. do. it.

Fan Out Breaking & Grozing Pliers

Key item for glass cutting.

Cutting tool for pulling and grozing (cleaning) edges of your glass pieces.

Studio Pro Metal Running Pliers

A must-have cutting tool for breaking straight lines after scoring. 

18in Aluminum Ruler

Key-ish item for glass cutting and templating. This product is our preferred option and what we utilize in the studio for a straight edge/ruler!

A must-have for drawing and glass cutting, we suggest students who are new to cutting glass get lots of practice before introducing the use of a straight edge. It creates new problems to be mindful of. 

It is ideal for the straight edges to have a rubber or non-slip backing to prevent sliding on slick glass and drawing paper. 

12 in. Unruled Cutting Square

Key item for glass cutting, copper foil and lead came methods.

A must-have around the studio! Used for drawing, setting up work boards, and squaring off sheets of glass, we have one nearby at all times!
This square has the perfect size lip to catch the edge of the glass unlike many sold elsewhere.

24 in. Unruled Cutting Square

A larger square is nice to have when working with larger sheets of glass. In addition, you can use a straight edge in combination with the square when needed.

Keep your work surface clean and free of glass shards! Some people utilize a waffle board; however, we prefer to work on a wood table and use a table brush to sweep debris away between cuts.

Vellum Drawing Paper

Vellum is a superior drawing paper. It offers a texture that allows the pencil to glide, making drawing much more effortless. The vellum has a 1/8" grid as a drawing and scale aid.
 
This paper is sold by the square foot.

Carbon Paper (23-1/2 x 34 in.)

Key item for templating project in the copper foil and lead came methods.

In a 23.5 x 34 in. sheet, the carbon paper allows you to quickly transfer your pattern to your post board for creating a template. 

Fan Out Foil Shear (blue handle)

These shears are for copper foil method projects. These are our most used pair for copper foil.

Shears are three-bladed scissors that help compensate for the space foil takes within your project. Using shears to cut your template ensure that the project fits together in the end.

This product is a higher quality alternative to the Choice Foil Shear (black handle). Fan Out produces only the highest quality tools that will stay sharp and last a lifetime.

Mika International Foil Shear (White Handle)

These shears are for copper foil method projects. This pair is great for those who cut a little big (leaving sharpie.)

This product is a higher quality alternative to the Choice Foil Shear (black handle).

Choice Foil Shear (black handle)

These shears are for copper foil method projects, less expensive than the Fanout brand but same size. THese are great for someone who does cut tight and all sharpie off.

Shears are three-bladed scissors that help compensate for the space foil takes within your project. Using shears to cut your template ensure that the project fits together in the end. 

Choice Lead Shear (Gray Handle)

These shears are for curved lines in lead came method projects. We utilize a larger shear for curved lines to give extra space since cutting curves in glass is more difficult. We need to compensate for less space with straight lines by using a smaller shear.

These shears are for straight lines in lead came method projects. We utilize a larger shear for curved lines to give extra space since cutting curves in glass is more difficult. We need to compensate for less space with straight lines by using a smaller shear.

Steel Wool

It's the magic eraser of glass. You can use it to remove sharpie, shine the solder, and many other tasks. Always ensure you use extra fine to avoid scratching softer glass.

Masking Tape

This stuff is great! We use it in the studio to hold down our patterns, hold the project together while grinding, and all kinds of other things!

Poster Board

In our studios, we utilize posterboard for making stained glass templates. It's readily available and easy to work with. Different studios use vastly different materials for their templates. 

Sharpie Black Marker Pen (Fine Tip)

Used for tracing templates onto the glass. Also used to do burnishing steps on foiling.
Black for light colors, silver for dark colors.
