Ever wondered how Tiffany & Co. produced their breathtaking, world-famous lamps?
Get hands-on and complete one of our 50+ designs in this cherished method.
Otherwise known as the copper foil method. This method is in utilized lamps, sun-catchers, and panels alike.
All tools, materials, and supplies needed for the project are provided but…bring. your. glasses, seriously. Bring your readers or prescription glasses, you will be glad you did.
Come as you are! Don’t wear your Sunday best (you’d stand out). The project is not very messy. No need to take extra precautions.
You will learn to make a sun-catcher in the design of your choosing using the copper foil or “Tiffany” method of stained glass creation.
You will begin with your pre-cut design and learn to grind, foil, burnish, and solder your piece. You will walk away with a completed sun-catcher and appreciation for what it takes to create artwork in the medium.
You will learn the same steps and methods utilized for producing larger-scale artwork like panels or lamps.
You will not learn how to cut glass, patina, or the ability to do the method independently in this class.
Students who are interested in mastering the medium should take a master class where the focus is to make them independent in the medium.
This class is designed to provide a quick, immersive experience into the copper foil method of stained glass creation. Many details and fundamentals of the method are omitted to create a 3-hour experience.
Students pick one of our 50+ designs to complete in class. Projects average about 6 inches on the longest side when complete.
Some projects are more difficult than others. Projects with fewer pieces are typically less difficult than projects with more.
The consensus is that our easiest design is the snail, and our most difficult the owl or frog.
We are happy to create custom designs for this class by request and for a one-time fee of $30.00 for drafting the design as a stained glass pattern.
Custom designs must meet the parameters of our other designs to ensure the project can be completed on time, in class.
Contact us with your ideas, we are happy to discuss them!
The ability to bring and consume alcohol during class varies based on class type and location. Check the “other” section in the event details below for restrictions specific to this class.
